Team Record Requirements

All World SkiErg ultra-distance team records must be done on a Concept2 SkiErg. Modifications to the machine that alter its performance are not allowed. Please check with Concept2 if you are unsure.

Team Categories

We recognize records in the following categories:

  1. Tandem (2 people)
  2. Small team (3–10 people)
  3. Large team (over 10 people)

In each of these categories the team may be men, women or mixed (at least 1/3 men and 1/3 women). In addition, mixed teams must have both the collective men and collective women each completing at least 1/3 of the time for a time based record or 1/3 of the distance for a distance based record.

We recognize records for each event in ten year age categories (20–29, 30–39, 40–49, etc), as well as a Junior category for those aged 19 and under. For the Junior category, all team members must be 19 or under. For all other age categories, the age of the youngest team member determines the age category of the record. No one 19 or under will be considered for a record in an age category above their age.

For the purposes of identifying a team's nationality for British and Irish ultra-distance records, the team's members must be at least 75% British or 75% Irish, respectively.

Requirements

All other records must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Verified with a verification code obtained for the piece from the PM3, PM4, or PM5.
  • Done in public with witnesses present who can be reached for confirmation of the performance. “Public” is defined as a health club, fitness center, skiing club, indoor race, trade show or regatta where Concept2 is present, school, university or special event in a public setting (for example, a fundraiser in a mall).
  • Recorded on video from start to finish. It must be one continuous video shot. It must include setting up the workout on the monitor, all the skiing and afterward, the workout displayed in the monitor Memory (not the last screen of the workout).

Team 100,000 Meter Ski

  1. If using a PM3/PM4/PM5, on the Main Menu, choose Select Workout > New Workout > Intervals: Variable. This enables you to set a single Distance interval of 100,000 meters, with a rest interval of 0:00.
  2. If using a PM2, set the monitor for 99,999 meters (that’s as high as it goes).
  3. The flywheel cannot stop spinning until 100,000 meters are reached.
  4. Tandem (2-person) attempts must have both athletes completing at least 40,000 meters or more each to be considered a world record.
  5. Keep a record of who skis, when they ski, and what the Performance Monitor reads (meters) when they start and end their session on the SkiErg. Also be sure to record the total number of people, including dates of birth, who ski in the record attempt. Have the log signed by a witness who can verify your performance.
  6. Send us the results from your USB flash drive or LogCard in the form of a .csv file, or send your signed manual record along with a photo, if possible, and copies of or links to any publicity that your record attempt received.
  7. New records will be recognized with a special certificate of achievement.
